Hi all,
Due to the constant misinformation currently doing the rounds, the Board of Windsor Leagues Club have asked that I write an informative letter to our members regarding the 2019 Rugby League Season.
This year the Club will field teams from under sixes to C Grade as well as our ladies team.
Yes, it’s true Windsor this year will not field an “A” or “A reserve” grade team. This was not a decision made lightly.
Yes, we won “A” grade last year but it came at a significant cost. One which this Club could not afford to incur in 2019. The Boards considerations were not restricted to just the direct costs of players, coaches and trainers, but also the ever increasing indirect costs such as registrations, tape & ground hire.
Further issues to be considered included some of the Penrith Junior Rugby League policies, in particular:
Adding to the above, the Club also experienced a number of sponsorship pledges reneged upon, these still remain unfulfilled.
Rather than continuing this process year after the year, the Board have decided to take a long term approach. The strategy, although simple, is to sit a year out of the 2019 season in A & A Reserve. The Club will then look to re-enter Ron Massey and Sydney Shield in 2020. The Board strongly believe in this strategy providing our juniors with a real pathway to the NRL rather than continuing in the Penrith A grade competition which has limited pathway for development.
The Club is looking to develop relationships this year as we strive to achieve great results on the field. We hope great times and experiences are also achieved off the field. This we feel will once again strengthen our Club as the family it should be.
This year we encourage as many supporters as possible to try and attend the games and support your team and your Club.
The more support the Club gets, the more support the Club can provide for our football Club.
We wish all our players, coaches, managers and supporters the best of luck in the 2019 season.
Go the WOLVES!
Yours sincerely
